World class technology
Developed in partnership with FritsJurgens, Europe’s leading pivot hardware specialist based in the Netherlands, this system brings world-class engineering into the New Zealand architectural market. The concealed top-and-bottom pivot mechanism transfers panel loads vertically rather than laterally, significantly reducing stress on the door frame and surrounding structure. This means greater design freedom, improved long-term performance, and the ability to specify larger, heavier entrance panels with confidence.
At the core of the system is the FritsJurgens System M+, which incorporates advanced Motion Technology. This allows precise adjustment of closing speed, latching speed, and damping through an integrated hydraulic backcheck.
This innovation unlocks our largest pivot capacity to date, supporting panel weights of up to 500kg. The increased capability enables the creation of imposing entranceways, using oversized pivot doors that make a strong architectural statement while maintaining smooth, reliable operation. The pivot system integrates with the 56mm Architectural Thermal Platform, offering a robust base suitable for both double and triple glazing configurations. It can also be seamlessly incorporated into the APL Architectural Series ThermalHeart+® 114mm system.
An option for every design
Custom-designed glazed solutions can be paired seamlessly with Solux-E® or Solux Ultra® low-e glass from AGP, helping maintain a comfortable indoor temperature year-round and reducing solar heat gain. Glazed doors up to 3m-high will be well within the capability of this new system.
APL’s Plus range of entrance doors — maximising thermal efficiency — can also accept the FritsJurgen M+ system. This includes the Axis, Latitude and Plasma door formats.
Security and functionality are equally well considered. The doors can accommodate morticed and electronic locking systems, with multipoint mushroom locking available for enhanced engagement and security. Because pivot doors are installed in a flush, indoor-outdoor setting, drop seals at head and sill are incorporated to reduce airflow. Adequate weatherproofing requires that external pivot doors are installed in sheltered porches and locations.
With its combination of European engineering, expanded size capability, and seamless integration into APL’s thermal systems, this pivot door solution sets a new benchmark for architectural entrance design.
