Partners

We work with suppliers and experts across New Zealand

Strong partnerships and network

At APL we maintain a wide range of partnerships within the building industry, including strong links with representative industry and professional organisations, and group home builders.

Through our strong vertically integrated network, we supply independently-owned manufacturers, all over the country. These dedicated operators are the exclusive suppliers of APL products through our three brands: Altherm, First and Vantage. They share our commitment to excellence and our spirit of innovation.

Our network

Over the years, we have developed a unique way of working. We work on a 'one stop shop' theory, making the journey with us straightforward for our partners and their customers.

Within our vertically integrated network of companies we have an on-site aluminium extrusion plant (INEX), double-glazing manufacturing plant (AGP), surface finishing plants (Colour Works for powdercoating and FINEX for anodising), a manufacturing facility (APL Manufacturing), plastic profile extrusion (PPL) and a distribution fleet (APL Direct) servicing our manufacturers.  See the full list below.

AGP (Architectural Glass Products)

AGP operates out of a custom-built world-class facility in Hautapu, near Cambridge. Glass is an integral part of any window solution and APL can now offer the most advanced glass technology to their customers.

APL Direct

APL Manufacturing

APL Manufacturing houses the country’s largest door manufacturing unit, producing thousands of aluminium entrance doors every year in a variety of designs and finishes.

Through APL’s pioneering research and development, aluminium doors are now prominent on the New Zealand market.

Nine machine centres are devoted to specialised manufacturing and ongoing development work. New products are always in the design process.

APL Manufacturing also employ's state-of-the-art technology, producing a variety of componentry using a robot arm and world-leading Frech diecast machines.

Colour Works

Colour Works has three powdercoat lines, used for all APL powdercoated windows and doors.

In 2016, New Zealand's first vertical powdercoat cube was installed as a third line. This world-leading technology allowed for greater capacity, speed and quality for our powdercoated products.

Off the back of the new cube technology, we have updated our manufacturing process across the board and now we can proudly say that we are a 'chromate-free' organisation.

FINEX (Finishing Excellence Ltd)

FINEX is APL’s on-site anodising plant, and is the most modern facility of its kind in New Zealand.

Our seven-step anodising process delivers a highly durable finish on the aluminium, available in six colour finishes.

Anodising is a well proven, surface finishing process that has been established in New Zealand for over 40 years.

INEX (Independent Extrusions)
INEX (Independent Extrusions) close icon

INEX (Independent Extrusions) is the largest extruder of aluminium in New Zealand, supplying aluminium for approximately 70% of New Zealand's windows and doors.

INEX has two extrusion presses (2400 tonne 8 inch press and 1800 tonne 7 inch press), and uses the latest manufacturing processes.

INEX sources an overwhelming majority of their aluminium billets straight from Tiwai Point smelter in Bluff. INEX has a commitment to sustainability, and is the only extrusion company in the Southern Hemisphere to recycle billet with Tiwai with 99.9% of all aluminium waste sent back to the smelter and recycled.

Most of the billet from INEX is part of Rio Tinto’s START programme which allows full traceability and provides a digital sustainability label with information such as where the aluminium was produced and information from its production such as carbon footprint, water use, recycled content and energy sources.

Because Tiwai is fuelled by renewable energy, the billet they produce is some of the greenest in the world.

PPL (Profile Polymers Ltd)
