Upgrading for the environment

You may have already read about the ‘Cube’, our cutting-edge vertical powdercoat line that, among the benefits, includes a chromium-free pre-treatment solution. After introducing that Italian-sourced technology in 2016, we worked to bring our other two powdercoating lines at Colour Works’ Te Rapa site up to the same environmentally-friendly standard.

No toxins, no worries

Following a major investment in new tanks and control technology, the upgrade is now complete. The new process replaces toxic formulations with non-hazardous compounds.

No sacrifice on quality

Naturally, the changes haven’t come at the cost of quality. Powdercoating is all about getting a uniform and durable finish, and the new pre-treatment achieves the same high levels of adhesion and protection against corrosion as ever. At the same time, the upgrade means the process across the board at Te Rapa is now more benign, and has greatly simplified on-site effluent treatment and disposal.
